Baked French Toast Creme Caramel


Servings: 8 servings
Time: 1 hour

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp liquid honey or corn syrup
  • 8 slices bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups half and half cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans




    In a small saucepan, melt butter, stir in brown sugar and honey. Pour into a greased 13" x 9" casserole
    and spread evenly. Sprinkle pecans over top. Top with enough bread slices to cover in one layer.

    In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, whisk in cream, sugar and vanilla until well combined. Pour evenly over bread.

    Cover and referigerate at least 8 hours or overnight.

    Bake in preheated 350 F oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until toast is puffed and golden brown around the edges.

    Using a spatula to serve, transfer French toast to plates turning slices caramel side up.




    Comments: This easy-to-assemble casserole can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
    When baked and turned over onto the serving plate, this French toast has its own sweet caramel topping.
    Optional: serve with fresh fruit.
