Community Oriented Policing Reports
June 22, 2011
This meeting was well attended by the Committee Members and there was one guest.
Denyse Pichette had, for many years, had problems with ATV’s, dirtbikes, etc. on her own and the adjacent property. The OPP cannot do anything on private property but had recently obtained written permission from the adjacent landowner to lay charges of trespassing. The OPP do have several options and Sgt. Mike Ashley will work with Denyse to try and resolve the problem.
Domestic Violence Presentation:
On November 9th, at the Community Centre, the Committee will be presenting an evening of discussion about Domestic Violence. The evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with a Silent Auction, followed by three speakers from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and then refreshments will be served.
The sub-Committee is making good progress with plans for the evening.
Fall Fair:
The COP Committee will have a booth at the Fall Fair on September 10th and the focus would be on Domestic Violence and Road Watch.
New Business:
Glenna had received an e-mail from a concerned citizen regarding the increase of traffic at County Roads 35 and 34. Mike thought that it was probably due to the construction at The Hanlon and 34 and that it may be temporary. The citizen felt that the intersection had become more dangerous (though the stats do not show this) and wondered if the County had any plans to do anything about the situation. Sandra will write to the County to ask what, if anything, is planned for the intersection.
Susan mentioned that she had received an e-mail from someone living near the Victoria/Leslie Road intersection saying that, since the installation of the 4-way Stop, it had become a much safer intersection.
Wayne mentioned that the next COP Committee meeting was scheduled for August 17th which was a Council night. It was decided to have the meeting early – before the Council meeting.
Next COP Committee meeting will be August 17th at 6:15 p.m. at the Township of Puslinch Offices. All residents of the Township are welcome to attend.
