The Puslinch Library

Library Photo

By Frankie Shaw

The Wellington County library system is comprised of 14 branches spread around the county, with a central library/headquarters located in Elora. Puslinch is the southernmost branch, serving a community of just over 5,000 residents.

Our collection is growing and we can offer, in addition to regular books, talking books (tape or CD), video (VHS or DVD) interactive multimedia, and magazines for children and adults.

We have access to all the items in the Wellington County system and we have an excellent delivery system for those who request items not found on our shelves.

We can give professional help in finding employment. We also offer internet access to independent researchers.

We host a weekly Story Time for children aged 3 to 5 years. It is held on Thursday mornings from 10.00 am. - 11.00am. Sessions run for 6 weeks. Phone for details and to register.

Lines from the Library (June 2005)

By Frankie Shaw

If you have children aged from 5-12 years, then mark the week of July 18-22 on your calendar for our 'Summer Fun at the Library'. The camp will run from 9.30-11.30 a.m. each morning and will include stories, games, crafts and music. Last year’s camp members were very enthusiastic but space is limited and the registration deadline is July 7th. The cost is $20.00 per child for the whole week, so register NOW to sure of a place and avoid disappointment.

“Blast Off” is the theme for our summer reading club which will be run for the whole of the summer holidays. Encourage your children to maintain and perhaps increase their literacy skills by reading for pleasure during the break from school. All participants will be eligible for draw tickets according to the number of books they read. This programme takes in account the fact that children will be reading at different levels, so there is no need to feel shy about borrowing books and joining our club. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the summer.

New! Draw a poster for your favourite book and win a prize. The title of the book must be included on the poster. Ask at the counter for more details.

The Kitchener Public Library is inviting amateur writers of all ages to enter their best work (prose or poetry) in this year’s Dorothy Shoemaker Literary Awards Contest. Prizes are awarded for the first ($150) second( $100) and third ( $75) places in each category and age group. Winners will also have their piece published in The Changing Image. The closing date is July 31st so don’t delay! For complete contest details and on-line application procedures please click onto www.kpl.org.
