The Wellington County library system is comprised of 14 branches spread around the county, with a central library/headquarters located in Elora. Puslinch is the southernmost branch, serving a community of just over 5,000 residents.
Our collection is growing and we can offer, in addition to regular books, talking books (tape or CD), video (VHS or DVD) interactive multimedia, and magazines for children and adults.
We have access to all the items in the Wellington County system and we have an excellent delivery system for those who request items not found on our shelves.
We can give professional help in finding employment. We also offer internet access to independent researchers.
We host a weekly Story Time for children aged 3 to 5 years. It is held on Thursday mornings from 10.00 am. - 11.00am. Sessions run for 6 weeks. Phone for details and to register.

The Librarians are Janet Dagenais and Frankie Shaw

Lines from the Library (September 2005)
By Frankie Shaw
Our Summer programmes were a great success, due in no small part to Janice MacDonald and Stephanie Hoffbauer. Our second Summer Fun Camp was enjoyed every morning for a whole week by many kids who learned lots of stuff while having fun. Snack times were a visual feast as well as a gustatory delight. The week finished on a very happy note with the Bouncy Castle hauled down from Clifford, and a party to celebrate a very happy time.
By the time these ‘Lines’ are out, we shall know the winners of the ‘Blast Off’ Reading programme. So many children have been encouraged to keep on with their reading during the summer, and it has been gratifying to read their reports on their choice of books. Some go into great detail, while others brush off the whole thing with as few words as possible with a “no time to write about what I’ve read, let’s get on to the next book” attitude.
There are enough reviews of the latest Harry Potter book by J.K.Rowling, that it seems pointless to get into the fray here. Officially catalogued by libraries as junior fiction, there are so many adults interested in our Harry that one would hesitate to call it a children’s book. Maybe there should be a separate classification for this series phenomenon; something like a ‘crossing all generations’ category. Wellington County Library’s classication department of one deserves a gold star, along with our courier, for having distributed to 14 individual branches 31 volumes of the book, on the Monday following its release at midnight on Saturday 16th July. There are also 4 copies of ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ available as a book on disc. Right now, they are whizzing around the County, going from one eager person to another. With over 700 pages, they are quite a considerable weight for Bridgette the courier, who hauls them around from branch to branch, along with her normal load of requests and returns.
StoryTime for little ones, 3-5years, starts on September 15 at 10.00a.m. Enroll now to avoid disappointment. Phone 763-8026.
