Rescue Reports

Annabel

Posted July 16, 2008

This evening I picked up Annabel who was rescued from a puppy mill two days ago. She seems in quite good condition and is well socialized to dogs and humans. She is very inquisitive and is already wagging her tail. We took some pictures, but it was dark and they didn't turn out well. She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning. Pictures to follow. The name was picked by her potential new guardian family. Our last rescue Gerry, whom we are still fostering, knows her in the "biblical sense". They should have a happy reunion after her quarantine. Gerry may regret that last vet visit.

Annabel went to the vet today. She has no fleas or lice, so no quarantine. She may have a bladder infection, she will need some dental surgery and of course will need to be spayed. Otherwise she got a clean bill of health. She is a big girl, and weighed in at 9.7 kilos. She goes back to the vet tomorrow to get a urine sample taken and have the microchip inserted. She has an outgoing personality and is very affectionate.

These comments are from an email received from Jim Mahoney. Jim and Lily Mahoney and their family are fostering Annabel with the intention of giving her a permanent home.

These pictures of are Annabel and our westie-bichon cross, Woody. The pictures were taken at our cottage north of Kingston.

The two dogs are getting along well and Annabel has made herself very much at home. Annabel is eating well and is walking well on a leash.

Tonight we are going to try to start Annabel on a tooth brushing regimen. Her teeth are not in good condition and since she doesn’t like to chew dog bones we will see if daily manual cleaning will help clean-up her teeth and gums.
