Rescue Reports
Katy

Today (August 7, 2008), I picked up Katy. She was surrendered by an older couple who have
gone to live in a retirement home. They had two westies but could only take
one with them so they chose to let Katy go. Katy is five years old and she
is quite stressed. There has been a lot of upheaval in her life in the last
few months. Due to their age and health conditions, the owners weren't able
to care for her properly. She was allowed to do her business in the house
and she was given human food to eat with the result that she is very
overweight. She has also had a very bad haircut but fortunately that will
grow back. Katy's vet told me that she tends to get skin allergy problems
in September and she is prone to ear infections. Katy will also have to be
spayed. Several people have expressed an interest in her but we have not
had a chance to review the applications or do home visits yet. So for now
Katy will stay with us.

Katy has not been spayed. Pearl, our alpha dog, has some problems with Katy and will not allow her on the bed. To address this I sleep downstairs on the fold-out couch with Katy in a sleeping bag. Here she is getting ready for bed.

We fostered Katy for about two weeks. She was placed in a loving home here in Guelph and we hope to keep in touch with her and her family on a regular basis.
